DEAR MR. CHOBITKO AND MR. SHABUROV!
My congratulations on the 15th anniversary of the Constitution adoption. The constitution adopted on this day symbolizes the national unity, consolidation of the civil society for protection of the state interests and responsibility for the present and future of our Motherland. The Constitution Day is the holiday aimed at uniting our forces for fruitful work in the name of Great Russia.
The calligraphers made a profound work creating the single handwritten copy of the Russian Constitution and made a huge contribution to the treasury of Russian culture.
The International Exhibition of Calligraphy brings great social significance for development of spirituality and culture of the Russian society.
I wish good health, prosperity and success in your work for the sake of the Motherland.

Dear friends!
I am glad to welcome the participants and guests of the International Exhibition of Calligraphy. This exhibition promises to be an important event in the cultural life of Russia. Restoration and preservation of historical traditions of Russian script, promotion of cultural and ethnographic values and art of calligraphy will help strengthening the position of the Russian language in Russia. The calligraphic traditions have been handed down from generation to generation, and they shouldn’t be forgotten. The masters of the national schools of calligraphy will give their master classes where they will discover the secret of their art to the young artists. I wish all the participants realization of their ideas and dreams and bright impressions to the visitors.

International cultural forums aim at maintaining peace and international security
through improvement of cooperation between nations in the area of
education, science and culture and provision of spiritual and moral
solidarity of the humankind without distinction as to race, sex,
language or religion. Suchlike forums, exhibitions, festivals serve to
consolidate creative and cultural heritage of the world community as
well as improve their roles in determining new strategic tendencies for
political, economic and social development of their countries. It is
crucial for us because never before had Israel occupied such a position
in the world cultural community that it occupies nowadays. Our joint
work stimulates creation of new and restoration of broken
social-cultural links and attracts the attention of the world community
to maintenance of the cultural heritage.

Dear Sirs,
I would like to thank you for your invitation to the official opening ceremony of the International Exhibition of Calligraphy.
This exhibition demonstrated a significant kind of art which the
general public has a faint idea of. The artworks of illustrious
calligraphers from different countries made a profound impression on
the exhibition visitors, and the exhibits were genuine pieces of art.
I congratulate you on a fine exhibition organization and wish you
success in restoration and promotion of calligraphic traditions!

It is a well-known fact the civilizations are known in history by the cultural achievements,
mainly the masterpieces of visual and fine art. No one now remembers
the names of antique workshops and medieval manufactories. But the
names of Miron, Skopas, Praxiteles, da Vinci, Rafael and Titian are
known by every more or less educated person. This is – the power of art!
Organization of cultural forums is highly important for spiritual state
of people nowadays, improvement of their humanitarian knowledge.
The International Exhibition of Calligraphy is featuring among such
forums. The ancient art of calligraphy, a bit neglected and
underestimated nowadays, is an effective means for people to find their
place in the world of beauty. It is a way for one person to show
respect to another. It is the way people can be united by means of
beauty.
Many thanks to the initiators and organizers of the show. Their efforts
resulted in creation of a talented bright five days-long fest of the
opportunities of calligraphy in filling our lives with beauty,
strengthening of relations and mutual understanding between the nations.

Dear Mr. Shaburov,
Let me once again thank you for your invitation to the opening of
the International Exhibition of Calligraphy on September 17, 2008.
The exhibition brought me back to the past and gave me an opportunity
to see the artworks of the modern masters of calligraphy. I want
masters from Turkey where calligraphic traditions are ancient and rich
to participate in suchlike exhibitions more often.
I hope your love and interest for the culture will give the
calligraphers from Turkey an opportunity to participate in the next
exhibitions.

|
First of all, thank you for your invitation to the show. We are proud to be here. We highly appreciate the work of all participants and consider it to be an outstanding cultural event. As far as it is art, the letters are also visual artworks which show what people say, how they say it and what words they choose to express themselves. We are glad to see so many beautiful artworks here. It is evident that artists put their hearts in these works. We are also proud that the works of one Palestinian calligrapher are included in the museum’s exposition.
The Arabs and Muslims value the art of calligraphy. The Koran has a plethora of variants, and every artist tries to write it in one’s one special way. There are a lot of copies of the book which are valuable historical and cultural heritage of the humankind. They can be found in Arabic countries, Russia and other Muslim countries and represent a thousand-year long history of Arabic writing. And I think it is very significant.
|
|
I saw a plethora of wonderful paintings at this outstanding exhibition. The art of calligraphy has a long history in Jordan. In their artworks the artists represent Islamic world and world-view. Arabic calligraphy is one of the perfect arts which is hundreds and thousands years old. I would like to thank the organizing committee and head of the project for an opportunity to visit the museum. Thank you for including the works of Jordanian and Palestinian calligraphers in the museum exposition. In future we would like to contribute to development of the project in your country and invite some other Muslim calligraphers to participate in your project. Besides, we can assist in museum’s cooperation with the representative offices of Arabic countries in Russia and abroad. |
|
First of all, I would like to thank the organizers for the invitation. To tell you the truth I haven’t been to such exhibitions for a long time, and I was impressed by all artworks exhibited here. In one word, they were just beautiful. All the pictures, images and drawings are peculiar national products. Thus, the paintings have the national spirit. We have just discussed a peculiarity of Mongolian writing where the letters are written from top downwards. In recent time calligraphy in Mongolia is being restored, and this art is becoming more popular with the youths. For instance, let us take this image of a word “wind”. See how the artist showed the character of the wind. Though the word is written, but there is a feeling as though the wind is drawn. And here is the word “sky”. Looking at it we can imagine the combination of letters as the sun, atmosphere, or universe. Calligraphy is the art of beautiful words and handwriting and the depiction of the environment. I want to thank you once again for the invitation and hope we will cooperate in future. |
|
I am pleased with the fact that St Petersburg has become the venue for the International Calligraphic Exhibition which is an important event for the city and Russia in general.
I am
glad to be the partner of the project. As a researcher of ancient
documents I know that the art of calligraphy has been forgotten and
become the activity for a few professionals and amateurs. The impetuous
tempo of technical progress and economic growth improve the well-being
of the nation but not its spirituality. Our future and future of Russia
depends on our eagerness to bring up the children to love the
beautiful.
The noble aim of the project, restoration of the
art of calligraphy in Russia, deserves respect and participation of
everyone concerned about the development of Russian culture.
|
|
I would like to congratulate you on the new project
launched and thank you for caring about the future cultural development
of our common multinational Motherland!
I fully accept the motto of the project
“Calligraphy: the art of excellence” and I am sure this fine art will
become a solid basis for the cultural progress of our nation.
As
an educated person I may say the Letter has always played an important
role in human lives. Literacy and fine document execution often sealed
the fates of nations.
Moreover, as the President of the Moscow State
University I would like to emphasize the crucial role of calligraphy in
improving the cultural background of the nation: calligraphic studies
can increase the number of well-educated and literate people which is
absolutely necessary for the state. Besides, I am sure that handwriting
is to some extent the reflection of the human sprit. By improving one’s
handwriting skills, a person is improving spiritually.
I am proud for the Moscow State University graduates
and undergraduates participating in the project. Their university
education will enable them to rise to eminence of their professions, so
much more as they have already chosen the right path.
I wish you success in your struggle for the prosperity of Russia and for trying to form a healthy society!
|
|
Calligraphy is a high, beautiful and traditional Russian art, which restoration will improve cultural and spiritual life of the Russians and unite them. I welcome your initiative and wish you successful exhibition!
|
|
A written, finely executed word conveying the stroke of genius is a
true miracle which needs to be restored both in Russia and in the
entire world. I believe you have stepped on a long and challenging
path. However, the most important thing here is that children start to
study calligraphy at a very early age, at the kindergarten. It is a
crucial educational objective for the successful future of Russia.
Calligraphy
is a compulsory discipline of the Faculty of graphic design. There are
many talented students good at typography. The International
Calligraphic Exhibition, in my view, is a nation-wide undertaking,
calligraphic skills must be developed in a child at a very early age
when it learns to hold a pencil or pen in its hands. However, it
shouldn’t be a ball point pen but a fountain pen that a child learns to
write with. This is it that serves a child or an artist to render the
words of wisdom, similar as a violin serves a virtuous player.
The
restoration of the art of calligraphy is a great challenge. Russia
often looks back and remembers the things it has lost. Calligraphy in
China, for instance, is an eminent art. If we could reach their level,
it would be a great accomplishment. The Lord said to his apostles:
“Walk through the lands and sow the words of truth”. Let us follow the
testament!
|
|
On behalf of the St Petersburg State University I would like to greet the organizers and participants of the International Calligraphic Exhibition who have taken the initiative in forming a healthy and beautiful society and bringing this social project into life.
I am sure the works of the world famous calligraphers, the museum display and master classes in particular will render the beauty of calligraphy and provide creative progress and personal enhancement to the visitors.
I wish you a successful project! We will keep track of its development!
|
|
People, who are interested and closely connected with the fate of a handwritten word, are smart, intelligent, and rapt. Among them there are librarians, book publishers and bibliologists, archivists and specialists in calligraphy. They are always in quest, ready for thorough researches, and able to save and revive age-long traditions.
I would like to remember wonderful words of our great compatriot, laureate of Nobel Prize, a writer I. Bunin. They reflect so well significance of our activity:
Tombs, mummies, and bones cannot speak.
Only words were given birth;
In ancient dark on the world pedestal
Letters tell their story
Let me congratulate all the exhibitors, organizers and enthusiasts of the project International Calligraphic Exhibition on its active realization and wish good luck in our joint work.
|
|
I am glad to greet the organizers and participants of the International
Calligraphic Exhibition. It is a pity there is no call for the
outstanding art of calligraphy. It is a pity many young people read the
books on-line and do not know the delight of neat handwriting and smell
of fresh printers ink …
I hope the International Calligraphic
Exhibition will be the first attempt to cognize this delicate and fine
art of calligraphy.

“Four treasures of a scholar’s cabinet”.
This is how they call the necessary calligraphic utensils in China: paper, brush, ink and inkpot for block ink grinding. At present time you can hardly find such treasures on Chinese tables. Goose quill and parchment are also rare things in Europe. And still there is a difference between an article typed on a computer keyboard and written with a fine and expensive, though a ball pen! Should one send an e-mail with a dozen of smiles to parents, friends and sweetheart? One needs a pen to write beautiful letters forming a text which will express the feelings of a writer. If there will be no calligraphers, then we, “the sinful”, will lose the Milestones, which we, though, can never reach! But we still can enjoy them and try to imitate…
The exhibition which MVK brought from St. Petersburg is a unique event in the cultural life of Moscow. We wish the organizers one more successful project! And we will repeat the famous words: “I write to you – what’s more?...”
|
|
As an artist, highly appreciating traditions of Russian classical art, I am so happy to learn that in our hard times there are people ready to revive this elite almost forgotten in Russia art of calligraphy.
I would like to express my cordial thanks to the organizers of the first International Exhibition of Calligraphy for their courage, nobility of the idea, and patriotism. Realization of the project demonstrates the important role of Russia as a highly educated country with the great culture, as a country where people appreciate such concepts as innovation, arts patronage and spirituality.
|
|
It is common knowledge that the more genius a person has, the worse is his handwriting.
Or, say, nobody plays the cello at the North Pole. Once again the MVK International Exhibition Company is contradicting the conventional wisdom with its specific dynamic and modern style.
The International Calligraphic Exhibition will prove that beauty is boundless.
I wish the MVK International Exhibition Company would always bring the joy of beauty, kindness, and optimism to our hearts…
|
|
Everything was great. I think all the plans of your company will successfully come true. |
|
Calligraphy is an ancient mystery and wisdom,
the basis of languages and the starting point in perception of the world. Calligraphy can be compared with music: simple signs – letters, notes – fill a blank sheet of paper with the world of harmony, philosophy and beauty. Only gifted persons can master these arts, but everyone is able to admire and understand them.
Aims and ideas of the MVK Company and of course the exhibition of calligraphy are good and honorable as usual. The MVK team is a union of creative, intelligent, high educated people, people who are able to make all dreams come true! Never look back, my Friends!
|
|
My congratulations on completing another stage of the grandiose project! Every such event unites the project participants, inspires them to work hard for the sake of this beautiful art for which only sky is the limit. |

Larisa Drygval is a professional graphologist, DSc (psychology), the only Moscow specialists of the Inessa Goldberg School of Graphic Analysis www.grafologia-msk.ru, www.grafologia.co.il/ru Thank you for your invitation to the exhibition. It was very comfortable to give a master class in such cozy and home-like atmosphere.
The exhibition organization is beyond praise. Everything was foreseen. Warm attention to the visitors and guests was astonishing. Many thanks to those who organized and participated in the show. |

From the very start the International Exhibition of Calligraphy was boggling the imagination with its grandeur and beauty. An amazing website which is daily updated. I enjoyed preliminary meetings and preparations to the exhibition in St.Petersburg, I admired the process of filling the exposition with the works of the outstanding world calligraphers, and, at last, I came to this exhibition.
It would take me a long time to recount everything that preceded the exhibition, and what was included in it. It is much harder to organize and demonstrate the show that no one saw before: I mean the calligraphy scrupulously pieced together.
I wish to thank Alexey Shaburov and the whole MVK team for the beautiful and unforgettable events, for seeable contribution into formation of a beautiful and healthy society.

“I also want to congratulate you on the grand success of 'The International Calligraphy Exhibition’. It was really commendable to have an event of this magnitude & conduct it in such an impeccable manner.
It truly gave a much desired platform to calligraphers of international fame to share their knowledge with fellow artists & more importantly impart it to the next generation. The exposure of the modern youth to this ancient & beautiful art was the need of time. The event opened new areas for art to be perused & gave calligraphy its much deserved place of honor”.

“For me the exhibition became some kind of a school of professional training, meeting with old and having new friends. I have already answered letters of three of them. We will keep in touch, will exchange experience and information. I won’t forget this hilarious event. The collected materials promoting exhibition will be demonstrated to colleagues and students and be included in the education programs.
Thanks to all of you! Let’s prepare for the next exhibitions”.

“With a feeling of deep satisfaction I’ve read your letter on the occasion of a successful ending of International Exhibition of Calligraphy. I am happy that it was highly evaluated by the visitors, as well as by representatives of Russian government, by import political figures and public organizations.
Years will pass, but Russian citizens will remember those who revived the forgotten art of calligraphy and those who were the originators of this process. I am ready to cooperate with you in future. Dear Alexey Yurievich I wich you successes in this project, unquenchable potency and energy, to be optimistic, enjoy family love and create through all you long life”.

“What an absolutely marvellous job the team has done - I have just viewed the photographs on the website and can see just how wonderful everything looked. You have taken such care with the framing and the hanging of the works - plenty of space, evenly and beautifully positioned. I will enjoy returning to the site to take in all the images of the work and the beautiful location. It is lovely to be able to see how my pieces were hanging in situ - thank you so very much for taking such great photographs of everything!”

“I am very grateful to the project organizer Alexey Shaburov and his team for that wonderful event I have taken part in. Due to perfect organization work I had a chance to get acquainted with my colleagues from all over the world and from Ukraine as well.
Today, on 1-st October in the Ukrainian I show my students materials of International Exhibition of Calligraphy.

“…We appreciate every grain of that invisible labor due to which such a wonderful and long-expected exhibition was put into effect.
It has given to us an opportunity to look at world calligraphy generally, to better understand ourselves and to learn much interesting data let alone warn environment of creative meetings between colleagues”.

“It was a great honor to me in participating of this event. I could see the event on the internet. It was impossible to me travel to visit the exhibition, because in that (this) moment I was (am)preparing an individual Exhibition with my own resources.
That´s so difficult prepare something without any financial support in Brazil. But I´m very happy with the fact that 6 of my artworks are beeing part of the Contemporary Museum´s collection. Donate this pieces made feel very good. I appreciate a lot your kindly attention and soon as posible I´ll be in Russia to know one of the most important culture of the world”.

“It was my pleasure to participate in such unique event and my greater honor to have the chance to talk and demonstrate before the wonderful audience and master collegues.
The exhibition, no doubt, presented a concrete step in reviving the Russian Calligraphy. It did not only present a wide variation of great traditions but also the valuable lectures; the magical demonstrations which showed the public how much calligraphy is a wonderful Art and a spiritual approach.
The ultimate honor, truly, was in meeting other masters, seeing their great works and having wonderful flavours of calligraphy! Finally, the event was not to gain this wide success without your self and your ‘super team’ whose effort was deeply mixed with sincerity and love. To all of you my sincere respect…”

Successes of thousand falls
In Russia the art of calligraphy has just been born,
In St Petersburg gold fall came and flowers blossoms.
Calligraphy in its variety of styles how to choose one,
In museum of treasury the door is open.
From heart art of calligraphy goes,
Century by century as the Great Eye foresees.
