“Four treasures of a scholar’s cabinet”.

This is how they call the necessary calligraphic utensils in China: paper, brush, ink and inkpot for block ink grinding. At present time you can hardly find such treasures on Chinese tables. Goose quill and parchment are also rare things in Europe. And still there is a difference between an article typed on a computer keyboard and written with a fine and expensive, though a ball pen! Should one send an e-mail with a dozen of smiles to parents, friends and sweetheart? One needs a pen to write beautiful letters forming a text which will express the feelings of a writer. If there will be no calligraphers, then we, “the sinful”, will lose the Milestones, which we, though, can never reach! But we still can enjoy them and try to imitate…

The exhibition which MVK brought from St. Petersburg is a unique event in the cultural life of Moscow. We wish the organizers one more successful project! And we will repeat the famous words: “I write to you – what’s more?...”
