The library holds a unique, large collection of domestic and foreign documents translated into 247 languages. The library’s stock numbers now over 43 million units.

The Russian state library collaborates and constantly keeps in touch with libraries from all over the world and international professional organizations, such as the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), the International Organization for Standardizations (ISO), and UNESCO.
On the initiative of the RSL, the Library Assembly of Eurasia was established. Thanks to its successful work management of the library collaborates and exchanges information with other libraries in the CIS in order to keep common informational and cultural space.
